This site collects very little, so this page is short. It says exactly what is collected, why, and who else sees it.
Who runs this site
Capacity Letter is written and operated by an individual, publishing under the pen name Robin Wen. The site is governed by the laws of the People’s Republic of China. For any privacy question or request, write to hello@capacityletter.com.
What is collected
The contact form
The contact form is the only place where you hand anything over. If you use it, you send your name, your email address, and your message.
The form is processed by Web3Forms, a third-party form service that forwards the submission to our inbox. The resulting email is kept for as long as it is needed to reply, and to keep a record of corrections and reader correspondence. It is not sold, and it is not added to any mailing list — there is no mailing list.
Analytics
The site uses Google Analytics to see which posts are read and how readers arrive. Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser and collects your IP address, the pages you view, the time of your visit, the site that referred you, and your browser and device type, along with an approximate location derived from the IP address.
That data is processed by Google LLC and its affiliates under Google’s Privacy Policy. Google’s opt-out browser add-on blocks it, and browser settings that refuse cookies will also stop it.
Theme preference
The light/dark switch stores a single value in your browser’s localStorage (key theme). It stays on your device, it is not a cookie, and it is never sent to us.
Server logs
The server hosting the site keeps ordinary access logs — IP address, time, requested URL, browser or user-agent string. They are retained briefly for security and troubleshooting and are not used to build profiles.
Where the data goes
Both services named above process data on servers outside China, including in the United States. Nothing is transferred anywhere else, and no data is sold or shared for advertising.
Cookies
The only cookies set by this site come from Google Analytics (_ga, _ga_*). Everything else — including the light/dark preference — uses localStorage rather than cookies.
There are no advertising cookies, no third-party trackers, no social plug-ins and no cross-site tracking on this site.
What you can ask for
Write to hello@capacityletter.com and you can:
- ask what personal data is held about you;
- ask for it to be corrected;
- ask for it to be deleted.
A reasonable request will be acted on, unless something has to be kept for a legal or record-keeping reason.
Children
This site is not directed at children, and personal data from anyone under 13 is not knowingly collected. If you believe a child has sent data through the contact form, write in and it will be deleted.
Changes
When this policy changes, the “Last updated” date above changes with it. Material changes are noted on this page.
